  • Chris Hall has been teaching AP Human Geography since the course was introduced by the College Board in 2000. Prior to AP Human Geography he taught world regional geography courses in both junior and senior high schools. He has been an AP exam reader since 2001 and is a table leader. Chris considers his experience as a presenter at AP workshops and institutes one of the highlights of his career and he conducts them regularly. Chris is currently the College Board Advisor on the Human Geography test development committee. Besides teaching AP Human Geography at Woods Cross High School, Chris is the Social Studies Curriculum Supervisor (K-12) for the Davis School District, one of the largest districts in the United States. Chris has been recognized as the Outstanding Secondary Teacher by the Utah Geographic Alliance (2001), the Secondary Teacher of the Year by Davis School District (2006), and as has received National Council for Geographic Education’s Distinguished Teacher Award (2007). He is also an endorsed consultant in Pre-AP Strategies in Social Studies and has worked with social studies vertical teams in schools across the country.

  • Course Goals:

    • To give participants a forum for discussing and sharing materials and successful teaching techniques.
    • To familiarize participants with College Board’s AP Human Geography course, its curriculum, and method of evaluation.
    • To review strategies for effective instruction of the AP Human Geography course and curriculum.
    • To increase participants' content knowledge in areas of particular concern or weakness.
    • To gain familiarity with the resources and pedagogical suggestions of the College Board for teaching AP Human Geography.
    • To review textbooks and resources for an AP Human Geography course.
